Abstract

Tylophara asthmatica and Uraria picta are medicinal plants finding a wide range of applications in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. Nodal explants of these two plants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with BAP for shoot bud induction. The maximum number of multiple shoot formation was obtained on MS medium containing 1.5 and 1.0 mg/l BAP for T. asthmatica and U. picta respectively. The in vitro grown shoots were rooted in half strength MS basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/l IBA. Regenerated plants were transferred to soil. Survival rate was 96% and 100% for T. asthmatica and U. picta respectively.
