Abstract

Callus induction and regeneration by the addition of heavy metals such as Hg, Cd and Cr was studied at different levels of these metals in MS medium supplemented with IAA and BAP. The experiment was carried out to study the interaction heavy metals on regeneration and multiple shoot formation in relation to metal concentrations. The growth decreased with increasing level of heavy metals in medium. Abnormal callus growth and shoot induction was noticed in some concentrations of heavy metals in the medium.
