Banana micropropagation is used for rapid, clonal multiplication of superior genotypes of disease and pest-free plants. In vitro multiplication of banana [Musa spp. cv. Robusta (AAA)] from shoot-tip explants isolated from lateral suckers is described. Shoot tip of banana plants were successfully cultured on a modified Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with BAP (5mg/l) and IBA (0.1mg/l). Shoot tip of explants could be induced to produce multiple shoot initials in medium containing shootlets. Rooted plantlets were successfully established in soil.
