Abstract

Intrinsic chromatic alterations are recurrent complaints in the daily clinic. They may occur after trauma
or endodontic intervention due to irrigating solutions, root canal obturators, endodontic cements and
other restorative materials. Considered a serious aesthetic defect, it is important to seek conservative
alternatives to restore color without the need for additional wear and tear to the tooth structure.
Walking Bleach" (using sodium perborate and 20% hydrogen peroxide) and external tray whitening
(with 4% hydrogen peroxide) to minimize darkening in anterior teeth after endodontic treatment,
aiming at maintaining the dental element with root structure impairment due to apicectomy. The
recommendations expressed in the literature to build an efficient cervical barrier, not to use heat and
to avoid high concentrations of the bleaching agent were carefully followed to reduce the risk of root
resorption. The technique employed proved efficient for chromatic reversibility, conservative, safe and
low cost, demonstrating its clinical effectiveness.
